Some gifts come with a good story. This one starts in Ticino, Switzerland’s Italian-speaking south, where Merlot finds its way into both the glass and the cheese cellar.
Our Taste of Ticino Wine & Cheese Gift Box brings together Gialdi Terre Alte Bianco di Merlot and Gottardo Grottino. A fresh white wine made from Merlot grapes, alongside a Swiss cheese rubbed with Merlot as it matures. Two different expressions of the same grape, brought together in one thoughtful gift.
Meet the wine: Gialdi Terre Alte
Merlot as a white wine? Absolutely. Gentle pressing allows Gialdi to make a pale, fresh white from this familiar red grape.
Terre Alte Bianco di Merlot has delicate notes of white peach, pear, citrus and flowers, with a fresh palate and a lingering mineral finish. An inviting discovery for someone who enjoys exploring beyond their usual bottle.
Each gift box includes one 500 ml bottle of this Ticino DOC wine.
Meet the cheese: Gottardo Grottino
Made by Caseificio del Gottardo in Ticino, Grottino is a semi-hard cheese rubbed with Merlot wine during its three-month maturation.
Its dark rind surrounds a creamy, supple centre, with a rich flavour and a gently piquant finish. Choose a half wheel for a smaller gift, or a whole wheel for an impressive cheeseboard centrepiece.

How to enjoy
Serve the wine chilled at 8–10°C. Take the cheese out of the fridge shortly before serving, allowing its flavour and texture to open up.
Add crusty bread or simple crackers, pour a glass and enjoy a little taste of Ticino. Bread and crackers are serving suggestions and are not included.
Delivery and gifting
Your gift is packed securely for delivery, with insulation and gel ice packs to keep the cheese chilled. We dispatch on Mondays, with orders closing at 8 pm Sunday, Sydney time.
This gift box contains alcohol and is available for delivery as a gift to an adult aged 18 or over, other than the purchaser. Please enter the recipient’s details as the delivery address.
Dietary information
Grottino contains milk, is made with pasteurised cow’s milk and uses animal rennet. It is not suitable for vegetarians. Please refer to the supplied product labels for full ingredient and allergen information.
